Pennsylvania General Energy (PGE) Establishes Truck Staging Area At The Venture Inn

February 14, 2012

Apparently to the surprise of everyone, including Lycoming County's Watson Township officials, Pennsylvania General Energy (PGE), at the end of the second week of this month, established a truck staging area at the south end of the Venture Inn parking lot, along Route 44 about one-and-a-half miles above Route 220 at Jersey Shore. It is complete with a “guard box,” portable toilet, bright night-lights and marking stakes.

The township is attempting to take action against the owners of the Venture Inn, Lisa and Scott Mason. Reportedly, a "Notice of Violation" was issued on Saturday, Feb. 11. The owners have until Saturday, Feb. 18, to comply with a shutdown of operations, or a $500 a day fine will be levied. A court injunction could be the next legal step if there is continued non-compliance.

staging on rt 44

It is nice to see that the township likes to take your money for taxes and tell taxpayers how to use their land. They're just upset that they're not making the money. Township officials need to mind their own business. The Venture Inn should subtract their portion of any money that is made by oil field employees and not claim it so the township don't see it. That way they can complain that they don't have the funds to do anything either.
