Williamsport Documentary Airs Monday
A film documenting the growth of First Friday, Williamsport's monthly art festival, debuts Monday, Feb. 6, 7 p.m. on WVIA.
Lorena Beniquez wrote, directed and produced "Williamsport Art Attack," which tells the story of First Friday's humble beginnings 10 years ago in order to promote art in the downtown area.
"Williamsport Art Attack" is produced in association with the Central PA Film Office and Lycoming County Celebrates the Arts Alliance and is sponsored by the Williamsport Lycoming Community Foundation and the Williamsport-Lycoming Chamber of Commerce.
The film showcases the people who made the city's art festival possible and includes interviews with about 20 people involved with the festival, including artists, community leaders and the developer who established the Pajama Factory, a studio space for artists in Williamsport.
Benequez, who currently works as an independent commercial director and volunteers as film commissioner for the Central Pennsylvania Film Office, is also submitting the documentary to national and international film festivals.
"We are very excited that we have been chosen for viewing by UNESCO, which is an economic and cultural arm of the organization," she said.
