Guerrilla Girls On Tour to Perform March 5
MANSFIELD, PA—Guerrilla Girls On Tour will present "Feminists Are Funny" on Monday, March 5, 8 p.m. in Mansfield University’s Steadman Theatre.
The event is free and open to the public. It is part of MU’s celebration of Women’s History Month in March.
Guerrilla Girls On Tour is a New York City-based touring theater company that has performed all over the U.S. and internationally. They create original comedies celebrating women and their history—past, present and future. Their mission is to educate via performances, workshops, gallery exhibits, masterclasses and community collaborations.
The troupe performs all of their work using masks and draws from a variety of classic theatre techniques such as physical theatre, vaudeville and parody in their own unique style.
“Feminists are Funny” is described as, “A fast and physical romp through the works of some of the most prominent and amusing women of the 20th century as well as the famous visual works, street theatre actions, and excerpts from the current comedies in Guerrilla Girls On Tour’s repertoire.” They also researches and include current local issues and statistics on the state of the arts for women where ever they perform.
Guerilla Girls on Tour’s appearance at MU is sponsored by the Women’s Studies program and Rape Educators and Contacts (REACT). It is funded by student activity fees.
