August 5, 2011

The Uptown Music Collective, a 501(c) 3 non-profit organization recognized by many to be the premier source of music education in the area will be the beneficiary of the 6th Annual Hudock Moyer Classic Charity Golf Event to be held Friday, Aug. 12 at the Clinton County Country Club.

“We are so honored to have been chosen as the beneficiary of this year’s Hudock Moyer Classic Charity Golf Event,” said Dave Brumbaugh, Executive Director and founder of the school. “We have been so fortunate to find a partner in Hudock Moyer Wealth Management and Michael and Barbara Hudock. They deeply understand the importance of empowering our youth through education in the arts. Through their generous gifts our programs have flourished and our students have reaped the rewards. Our organization and our city is blessed to have such a community minded asset based here in Williamsport.”

Hudock Moyer Wealth Management has been a valuable community partner to the Uptown Music Collective. Their contributions allowed the nonprofit school to reduce tuition for this year’s Summer Music Camps as well as helping to fund the development of two new educational programs.

Michael Hudock, partner of Hudock Moyer Wealth Management, describes the Uptown Music Collective as a “non-profit school of music that contributes greatly to the overall quality of life in the community.” He goes on to praise the Uptown Music Collective for its role as a positive influence on youth in the community, saying, “Through music instruction and frequent community performances, the “UMC” creates driven, disciplined young people who demonstrate strong leadership skills and act as positive role models for other teens in the area.”

The event will begin with registration at 8:15 am and continue until the prizes are awarded at 1:30 p.m.   The $65 registration fee includes the use of the greens, a cart, and lunch, and prizes include a $25,000 hole-in-one prize. Donations will go directly to the Uptown Music Collective and may be tax deductible.  Hudock Moyer Wealth Resources will match all donations and proceeds up to a total of $5,000.

“In a time of such uncertainty, it feels almost impossible to make the world a better place.  By joining with the fantastic collaborations that exist in our community, for the good of the community we can truly make a difference. Hudock Moyer feels honored to help support the amazing talent from the Uptown Music Collective.  Together, we can make the world a better place,” says Hudock.

Established in April of 2000, the Uptown Music Collective has developed a reputation as the premier source of music education in the area. Offering private lessons at all levels on guitar, bass, drums, keyboards and vocals, as well as classes and workshops in music theory, songwriting, and styles such as the Blues, Jazz, Classical and Rock. The primary age range of the Collective is 10 – 18 yrs. old, but is open to all ages and levels.

Along with private lessons, the UMC offers a myriad of programs including its flagship Performance Program. This program educates students about the ins and outs of major and minor performances, including direction, production, preparation and technical aspects of the performances. The program also brings outstanding student run performances to the area, including the most recent, The Unforgettable Fire: A Tribute to U2 and Irish Rock and Rhythm Nation: A Live Music and Dance Tribute to 80’s Music Videos. Through this program, Collective students have presented six major performances within a year’s time at the Community Arts Center, including an annual benefit concert that raised $5000 for the Children’s Development Center in Williamsport, Pa.
