Hughesville native and Lock Haven University graduate Joan Wheal Blank is a freelance proofreader, writer, amateur family historian, and author of two books, Around Hughesville and Around Montgomery (Arcadia Publishing Postcard History Series), published in 2007 and 2008 respectively.

A resident of Montgomery, Joan is employed full-time in the Lycoming County Human Resources and Veterans Affairs office, is board vice-president of the Montgomery Area Historical Society and editor of the society's quarterly newsletter. She also serves on the Montgomery Area Public Library Board and writes for a variety of publications, including the Muncy Luminary and HistoricWilliamsport.com.

Joan is the editor of the Montgomery section of NorthcentralPA.com and administrates the "Friends of Montgomery" Facebook page at http://bit.ly/9AnSGq.
